Namkhai Yeshe was born in Italy in 1970 into the family of the Dzogchen master Chögyal Namkhai Norbu (1938–2018). He received both a Christian and a Buddhist education, and also studied filmmaking, philosophy, and computer science. His professional career was connected with the IT field in mid-sized companies, where he held positions of growing responsibility. Already in his childhood,

His Holiness Sakya Trizin recognized him as the reincarnation of his maternal uncle, Jamyang Khyentse Chökyi Wangchuk (1909–1960), and gave him the name Jamyang Chökyi Nyima. In 2007, Namkhai Yeshe visited Tibet and his monastery. At his father's request, he has always cared for the future of the Dzogchen Community, introducing modern methods and technologies to support its natural evolution.

Today, as a holder of the transmission and lineage of Chögyal Namkhai Norbu, he is the spiritual head of the International Dzogchen Community, combining this role with his family, professional, and social responsibilities. For the past five years, Namkhai Yeshe has studied electronic music at the Luigi Cherubini Conservatory in Florence and now composes music himself. He uses the sound and language of electroacoustic music to make ancient knowledge and meditative experience more accessible. He leads regular retreats at the centers of the Dzogchen Community.
